Annual student attendance calendars

Board Highlights - January 7, 2025

Student attendance calendar for 2025-26 approved
The Chinook’s Edge Board of trustees has approved the student attendance calendar for the 2025-26 school year. The calendar will be posted on the Chinook’s Edge website. Discussions with staff and families help the division and board determine specific elements of the calendar.

Board receives the first quarter financial report
The Board received the Chinook’s Edge first quarter financial report. The Board also considered the portion of the budget that supports its operation. All expenditures and revenues are in line with what the Board budgeted earlier this year.

Trustees receive technology report
Trustees heard a quarterly technology update from Jason Drent, Associate Superintendent of Learning Services. Among the highlights of the report:

  • The division is preparing for Provincial Achievement Testing that will move online next school year. The division is doing some field testing and has been working on getting the right technology in place.
  • Chinook’s Edge has received a very good rating on its Cyber Insurance controls, and is considered a provincial leader. The division continues to see success with educating staff on cybersecurity threats.
  • The division is establishing a new firewall in the spring which will further increase the robustness of the division’s security.
  • Chinook’s Edge is working to support teachers with introductions to Artificial Intelligence in their classrooms. Efforts will be made to establish a lead guidance committee related to AI use in instruction and assessment, how to guide students on AI use, and recommendations on initial support from Chinook’s Edge Policies and Administrative Procedures.
