The Chinook’s Edge collaborative and supportive culture includes: 

  • Mentorship program for new teachers (3 days, plus 2 release days and access to school mentor and divisional coach)
  • Grade level professional learning communities
  • New curriculum - learning and planning days (3 days in each grade team, plus school professional learning days. Additional release days are provided when funding is available from provincial initiatives) 
  • Professional development based on currently and timely needs delivered by division coordinators

2. Inclusive Excellence

Structures and guidance for working with students with complex needs includes:

  • Timely professional development related to specific needs in a school
  • Student Support Lead for every school with more than 200 students, based in the school for timely and immediate access
  • Continuum of supports available to support the mental health of students (Family School Wellness workers, Youth Empowerment and Support workers, and clinical psychologist)

  • A division principal is available for support and guidance
