- Registration for the 2024-2025 school year is available online.
- Registration for 2025-2026 school year will open on January 6, 2025 at 9:00am.
Please make sure to select the proper year in the forms for when your student is starting.
All registration must be completed online. Paper application forms are no longer available. For assistance with digital registration, please visit your designated school.
Please have your supporting documents (ex. birth certificate) easy to access prior to beginning the registration process.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Registration

To register a new member of your family go to your PowerSchool Parent Portal and login with your existing user name and password to find the SchoolEngage link on the bottom left hand menu. Once in your account you can add a student.
Please do not create a new SchoolEngage Account.

*Please note, this is where you register for summer school for a student who already attends Chinook's Edge schools.
If your family has students currently attending CESD, but you have moved and your children need to transfer to their new designated school.
Please go to your PowerSchool Parent Portal and login with your existing user name and password to find the SchoolEngage link on the bottom left hand menu. Once in your account you can click on your student and fill in the Transfer Form for the proper year.

- Transfers for 2025-2026 school year will open in April 2025.
To complete the registration process the following forms must be completed and handed into the school:
Notification of Independent Student
Release of Independent Student Information *(Optional)
Please register your child online as per above and attach the Out of Area Request Form. The out of area request form can also be returned to the school of choice.
Expect to receive an email from the school notifying you if your child(ren) have been approved. Depending on time of year, this could take several weeks.
If you have registered during the summer months when schools are closed, your registration will be reviewed when schools open during the last week of August. At that time, you will receive your notification email.
More Information About the Online Registration Process
SchoolEngage is a convenient, secure online enrolment system. This replaces our annual registration package and demographic updates, and verifies all student information for every child prior to the start of school.
What if I don’t have access to a computer?
- All schools have computers available for parents who do not have computer or internet access.
- The SchoolEngage system is mobile friendly, you can use your smartphone or tablet to register.
What if I don’t have access to a scanner?
Bring your supporting documents into the school to ensure your registration is complete. Alternatively, take a photo with your smartphone or tablet, then either upload it directly to the form or save it on your computer and upload it from there.
Examples of accepted documentation:
- Canadian provincial birth certificate
- Canadian citizenship document
- Student immigration papers, or study permit. Landed immigrant documentation or temporary residence documentation will also be required for parents.
- Guardianship Letter: If parents live outside of Alberta legal guardianship must be applied for through Alberta Government.
- Verification of residency such as driver’s license, utility bill, lease agreement, property tax bill.
Media Consent and FOIP
Part of the registration form explains what information Chinook's Edge is permitted to gather consistent with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Also, we ask families for permission to share a students' personal information including their name, photograph, video, work and activities publicly. The intent behind this is to showcase and celebrate student achievement, and to create a sense of school and community pride in our students and schools.

Technology Use Agreement
Technology provides students with unique and powerful ways to enhance their learning. Chinook's Edge School Division supports the use of technology for the purpose of enhancing and supporting learning and is pleased to offer students access to computer networks so that they can use Division supplied technology or bring their own personal devices to school.
One of our goals is to ensure that student's interaction with the use of technology contribute positively to the learning environment both at the school and in the community.
