Information on approved Locally Developed Courses (LDC) is posted to this location upon approval from the Chinook's Edge School Division Board of Trustees and Alberta Education.
Steps for Locally Developed Course Approval
Locally developed courses must be approved by the Chinook's Edge School Division Board of Trustees and in the case of senior high courses, Alberta Education must approve the course before it may be used in the classroom. If you would like information on the approval for a LDC please contact Jason Drent at jdrent@cesd73.ca.
Creating your own Locally Developed Course
When teachers wish to create a locally developed course or program, certain information must be provided in order to obtain approval from the CESD Board of Trustees.

** Class V Driver Training
Alberta Education has a new process to award high school credits for external learning opportunities that students take outside of school. This new process provides a more personalized, flexible approach for completing high school.
Students can complete the external course offered by a licensed driver training school (government-recognized organizations) for high school credit. Alberta Education has approved that students will earn one high school credit for completing the 15 hours of classroom instruction and 10 hours of in-vehicle instruction and passing the knowledge and practical assessments.
Students will initiate the request for the external recognition by presenting a Notice of Driver Education Course Completion to their high school. The high school will report the completion of course (EXT1010) Class 5 Driver Training 10 using PASI. (Students who previously received credits for the same learning under (LDC3363) Class V Driver Training are not eligible to earn duplicate credits using external learning recognition.)
